Sunday Nov 20th
at Chicago's turned out to be a great day!Started off slow and steadily improved. We never did get a full house but had a good crowd and made money AND signed a few new members.
Russell deCarle backed by Pat Temple did a spell binding show and had everyone's rapt attention. These two guys are top of the line folks!!Russell doesn't really need a whole band to get his point across. Look forward to his new Recording and Band and also a new recording with Prairie Oyster in the near future.
Puss, (my name for them ) which consisted of Rene Demers,Mogens Galberg and Jim Beelby of the Award winning "Sourpuss"were fabulous as a Trio, the sound in Chicago's proved excellent for them. These guys are a real treat playing a few different styles and all with soul...Ragtime,Peidmont Blues et al..
Poor Pelly besides being a Song writer is entertaining as all get out, Glen Bensley stepped in for his missing bandmates and they put on a heck of a show.Ashley Johnstone another up and coming Writer/Musician also made everyone glad to be there. This girl is a serious Player/Writer.Expect to hear a lot more from both these kids in the future!
Glen Bensley is a powerful player and Singer he covers a whole lot of styles, catch his act around town you won't be disappointed believe me.
Garth Bourne opened the day with his band The West Hill Billys.Trad Country never fails in this neck of the woods and neither does Garth with his big voice and easy goin' ways.
Howard Ross, suprised us all with a Solo Accoustic set.Just long enough to make everyone want more.Maybe next time.
All in all it was a fine, fine day.
